My dog keeps bringing me his snake toy, in hopes that I will grab onto one end and pull so that he can pull too. He’s trying to teach me to play tug of war.

He doesn’t want me to throw it. That would be annoying because then he’d have to bring it back and teach me all over again, getting me to grab on and tug which is the whole point of the game. I throw it anyway.

I keep throwing it because i’m trying to teach him to fetch. It’s a battle of the wills. I think i’m going to win.

What if I named all the voices in my head? Sally could be the upbeat one, Mopey would be the depressed one, Mom would be the critic… I could talk about them as in “Sally thinks there is a chance”. This might make me crazier.

My dog just wagged his tail at a fly. Then again the fly just landed on the piano so maybe my dog was anticipating a musical performance.

I have problems with attention and focus in case you can’t tell. Reclaiming the word ‘crazy’. I read about reclaiming and re-appropriating words and things today. I’m still a little confused, but I think the gist of it is if you are what a derogatory term refers to, then you can reclaim it if you use that word a lot and proudly say you are.

I don’t think this form of a journal is going to help me any more than standing on the street spewing out loud prophecies is. I need to restructure this thing. I need to rein my ideas. Maybe rethink the whole idea. There’s my excuse for another 6 months between posts.

I am going to start my Tumblr now.

Her sight incredibly improved as she grew up, and she was able to gain some sight back with treatment when she was a teenager.

That’s when she picked up photography. She’s now a successful commercial photographer and is on Day 923 of her 1,000 photos a day project.

Ignorant is ignoring the fact that it was and is easier for these four, to get this show made, than any random four girls with the same amount of talent. It’s kinda like saying everyone in America starts out equally. Someone forgot about things like wealth, class, privilege, race— Wait no, we’re colorblind so everyone’s the same and everything’s peachy.

From son of actor Bruce Glover? If your parent was even in the same business, that’s pretty lucky. It means you have a leg up, be it help or knowledge or understanding. Which means less battling of wills and less clueless floundering. Don’t see why that’s something to be angry about, it’s just a fact. Nobody said HBO handed it over because of who their parents are, why so touchy about nepotism?

GIRLS does do well in Apatow’s vein of loser characters. I wanted to hate all of it, but there were a couple things they did right, that rang true, that I can’t ignore. And no matter what, Dunham DID it. So that’s enough to shut me up from saying any more.

This is so much bullshit. I debated whether or not to reblog this, because I don’t really want to give it any more notes or attention. But I don’t think people understand what a hot load of misogyny this mock poster is blowing. There is no doubt that privilege gets us everything in life. But there is also no way that HBO is going to give someone a TV show based solely on who their parents are. The channel that does that is E!, ok? It makes me so angry that everyone wants to reduce the hard work and creativity and risks that went into this show to nepotism.

It’s very hard to get an opportunity to portray women as less than glamorous and sexy. It’s very hard to get an opportunity to show female friendships as revolving around more than just dicks. And it’s very hard to find a woman on television with a totally average body. And Girls has all three of these things and that makes me so excited. You know what? I am not a glamorous and sexy person. I spend more of my life fucking it up than I do getting it right. And I am an asshole. I am such an asshole. And it feels so good to see someone completely embrace that. Men have Louis CK and Larry David and I love those guys too, but Lena Dunham touches on a life that I actually live.

From a young age, girls are taught to relate to fictional characters. Girls will extract whatever tiny detail they can recognize from a character in order to sympathize and bond with them. This is how women watch tv and movies and read books. This is how we sit through movies like Wedding Crashers and actually laugh. Because no matter what, we will find that one human thing and cling to it. Let me tell you, it feels absolutely wonderful to not have to search to see something I can recognize. It’s bizarre and amazing to hear the exact words I’ve said before come out of a character’s mouth.

If you have chosen to dismiss this show outright based on the lives these women were born into, then your ignorance is showing.
